Self-appraisal is an important part of annual appraisal process. When an organization starts appraisal process, sends a self-appraisal form to all the employees to rate themselves for that particular year performance. It is not the only criteria to decide about the increments but it plays key role in pay hike. It creates a bad impression, if your appraisal form is incomplete, even though if you are a top performer also. Below tips may useful for effective presentation of self- appraisal form:
• Present your achievements: Presenting your achievements in an impressive way may help you in getting great recognition at the time of appraisals. Make a list of your major achievements and present them under various sections. The details given by you should be factual and up to the mark.
• Analyze yourself with a professional tone: Don’t use simple words and phrases to write self-appraisal. Add professional tone to your self-appraisal form along with authentic key words. Use professional language with right words and use the words in short form and up to the point. Make sure that, you have highlighted all your major job functions in your self- appraisal form.
• Connect the examples mentioned to the key resource areas: Mentioning high performance areas not only works in getting high self-appraisals. Connecting them to the key resource areas also makes an impression that, you have important responsibilities at your work place. You have to address the each problem rather than highlighting by a peer review or an appraisal written by a supervisor. This will elevate your confidence levels and gives a clear picture even at the time of low-performance period.
